What should I wear?
The Premier Enclosure, which includes hospitality, is the only area with a dress code, which is smart/casual, imagine you are going to a smart wedding. We request that gentlemen wear a collared shirt. No sportswear, t-shirts, or shorts are permitted.
The Grandstand and Paddock and Course Enclosure are more relaxed and we would advise that you dress according to the weather forecast. The old adage ‘If it’s sunny take a coat, if it’s raining do as you like’ is usually a good one to follow!
How can I get to Beverley?
Beverley Racecourse is located on York Road and the postcode HU17 8QZ should be used for satellite navigation. For more specific details, please see the ‘How to Get Here’ page under general information.
Beverley has a train station which is located about a mile from the racecourse and there are regular bus services direct to Beverley from Hull, York and Leeds. There is a bus stop outside the Grandstand and Paddock Enclosure.
Are there any cash points at the racecourse?
Yes there is a cash machine in Rapid Lad. Alternatively, if you have a £5 bet with the Tote you can get up to £50 cash back.
When do tickets go on sale?
Tickets for all 2010 fixtures go on sale on Wednesday 6th January 2010 at 9.00 am. Premier Enclosure badges for The Journal Ladies Day will sell out very quickly. Tickets can be booked by calling 01482 867488 or on-line at www.beverley-racecourse.co.uk
What is the difference in enclosures?
The Premier Enclosure is the top enclosure and allows you to enjoy all the modern facilities that Beverley Racecourse has to offer, including the use of the Attractions Restaurant. (To reserve a table call CGC Events Ltd on 0113 287 6387.) You also have access to Whistlejackets Cafe, the Terrace Bar and Buffet and the Lawn Bar. Premier Badgeholders have access to all the public areas.
The Grandstand and Paddock is ideal for those wanting a more relaxed day at the races. It gives access to all areas (except the Premier Enclosure) including the Paddock Bar, with views over the Parade Ring, the Grandstand and trackside spectator areas. Other facilities include the Jockeys’ Loft Restaurant, the Rapid Lad Bar, the Touch Above Bar and the Minster Buffet Bar.
The Course Enclosure is located in the centre of the racecourse and offers a fantastic, value for money day out for all the family. You can drive up close to the action and picnic in the comfort of your car. The Hurn Bar offers food and drink, as well as mobile catering outlets. Transfers are available into the Grandstand and Paddock on all racedays.
Are there discounts for group bookings?

What is the refund policy?
Abandonment before completion of the first race – full refund
Abandonment before completion of the third race – 50% refund
Abandonment thereafter – no refund
Is it suitable for families?
Definitely! We have three racedays specifically geared towards families, with entertainment for the children and these are on Monday 3rd May, Tuesday 27th July and Sunday 29th August, however accompanied under 18’s are free at all meetings so if your children like horses, bring them along for a day out!
Where do I park?
All parking on The Westwood is free and available to anyone in any enclosure, including private coaches.
If you want to take your car into the Course Enclosure, the entrance is near the cattle grid at the top of The Westwood and clearly signed.
For Owners and Trainers, again the car park is near the cattle grid at the top of the Westwood and signed.
What time should I arrive?
Gates generally open two hours before the first race, but details can be found on the website. The restaurant and all bars will be open from gate opening time. Horses usually enter the Parade Ring about 25 minutes before the first race and prior to this can be seen in the Pre-Parade Ring being saddled up, so get here in plenty of time to soak up the atmosphere!
Where do I enter the racecourse?
If you are entering by foot, access to all enclosures is along York Road, with the Course Enclosure being the entrance nearest to town, followed by the Grandstand & Paddock, then Premier Enclosure.
If you want to take your car into the Course Enclosure, the entrance is near the cattle grid at the top of The Westwood and clearly signed.
For Owners and Trainers, again the car park is near the cattle grid at the top of the Westwood and the entrance is through the white building signed Owners and Trainers Suite.
Can I visit the Parade Ring?
Of course you can! Anyone in the Premier Enclosure and Grandstand and Paddock can gain access to both the Pre-Parade Ring and the Parade Ring to see the horses up close. Please do remember though that horses are not machines and can be unpredictable, so please keep your wits about you and close attention to any children with you.
Where can I get food and drink?
In the Premier Enclosure you can go to the Attractions Restaurant which serves full a la carte meals, or later on for afternoon tea. Most of the bars serve sandwiches, crisps and cake or there is the buffet in the Terrace Bar. Why not try the Whistlejackets cafe for a coffee and cake and peruse the daily papers which are provided.
In the Grandstand and Paddock you can eat in the Jockey’s Loft or the buffet in Rapid Lad. Again most bars serve sandwiches, crisps and cakes. There is also the fish and chip bar.
In the Course Enclosure, refreshments are provided in the Hurn Bar and there are various mobile catering outlets on site.
Do you cater for people with disabilities?
Most certainly, all enclosures are designed for wheelchair access to the main public bars, restaurants and toilets. A disabled viewing stand overlooks the track. Disabled car parking is close to the racecourse and is clearly signposted. Our staff are always happy to help disabled racegoers get the most out of their day.
Where can I bet?
There is plenty of choice when betting so make sure you shop around for the best odds! Bookmakers stand in all enclosures and there are also Tote betting facilities throughout the racecourse. www.totesport.com
Can I buy a gift voucher?
Yes, gift vouchers are sold for the Premier Enclosure only and these can be passed on to the recipient. They cover all days apart from The Journal Ladies Day.
Can I take photographs?
Yes as long as it is not for commercial use. Photos can be taken, but please do not use a flash as this can scare the horses. If you are a professional photographer, you need to obtain a press pass by discretion of the racecourse manager. Please call 01482 867488 to discuss.
Can I bring a picnic?
Yes, however the only enclosure in which you can eat your picnic is the Course Enclosure. If you have booked badges for either of the other enclosures, you can take your picnic into the Course Enclosure and then cross back once you have eaten it.
Where can I buy a racecard?
Racecards are on sale in the hut near the Parade Ring and near the course crossing in the Course Enclosure. They are £2 each and full colour. The contain all the information about horses running on the day, who is riding them, what colours they will be in and their recent form. There is also added information to help you enjoy your day, for example, how to bet, information about the racecourse, horse welfare and advertisements.
